Song Saturday (1): Shake it Off, by Taylor Swift

This girl is awesome. She has been one of my favorite singers since 2012 and I don't regret it. In case you haven't checked out her new song and music video, they're great. Like GREAT GREAT GREAT. And she even explains it on her live stream.

She named her new album 1989 because she is born on December 13th 1989 and she feels like she went through rebirth. She said she simply shook off the critics, which inspired her new song, Shake it Off. For the music video, all they did was take a bunch of pros and put her in the middle of them. And what I like is that the song really gets to you - the fact that she falls and does dumb things during the video doesn't make you think 'She's really stupid'. It just makes you think she's not perfect and she's happy with it, especially when she says,

And the haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate

I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake

Shake it off, shake it off

That's just like saying 'everybody does their own thing and I don't care'. Some say the video is part improper, but let's talk about Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus... For them stuff like that isn't improper? All she does is show a bunch of twerkers do their thing. THAT'S IT. She isn't naked, you guys.

August Random Reads (1): Uglies, Lolita and The Warrior Heir ^.^

Ok, so, I put a bit of a twist on my "Random Reads". Why? Because I know myself. And if I don't feel like it, I'm not gonna read it. I'm a very moody person, so to make sure I actually complete my august random reads, I randomized three books instead of one. Now, these are not the first three that came up, because my 'to-read' list is full of books that haven't been released yet. So I can't read something that appears in october for my august random reads, ok y'all?

So the three very lucky books aaare:

Uglies, by Scott Westefeld; Lolita, by Vladimir Nabokov; The Warrior Heir, by Cinda Williams Chima.

I'll read one of the three books chosen. Really, I might even read two of them. I'm really eager to read Uglies and The Warrior Heir. You can click on their titles to find out more.

Even though there are exciting new releases this month, I'm gonna take a break and read one of these. That means I'll postpone Isla and the Happily Ever After, by Stephanie Perkins and the end of Opposition, but let's hope it's worth it.

The fact that I love history and I'm obssesed with greek gods probably didn't help, BUT I FOUND A NEW OBSSESION.

Like I didn't have enough of those.

This is good. Like real real real real real real really good. It has greek gods. Handsome greek gods. And a stubborn heroine.

What can you want more?

It's not the newest thing, I know and it doesn't have a bazillion fans, but it makes me feel so good when I think about it. In front of my eyes are belly-dancing foxes (currently reading Opposition, what can I do about it?) that are screaming AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME.

It walks on my tail (who said I don't have one?) that there aren't more fans of this series. You have to be more patient with Henry/Hades but he was left by the girl he thought he was gonna spend his eternity with, ALRIGHT?! Damn Persephone all you want, but NOT MY HENRY.

It's not like Aimee Carter is the first one to come up with the idea of the seven tests, I've read a lot of books with this theme, some even with the entire bachelor's-family-choosing-future-queen (i. e. the Selection, by Kiera Cass), but I feel like this was one of the best written out of them all. And I loooved the characters, especially Ava, Kate's best friend. After I've read the novella from her perspective, I loved her even more - how she sees love in everything around her. Some might not fall for it, but I'm crappy like that and I'm gonna say it's sweet. GOT SOMETHING ABOUT THAT? A girl can dream.
